Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests detect the presence of the COVID-19 virus’s genetic material. PCR is generally the most accurate way to confirm whether or not an individual is currently infected with COVID-19. Infected individuals, regardless of whether or not they have symptoms, should immediately quarantine for at least 14 days.
